International Conference on Social Impact Filmmaking
About this Event
Activists Without Borders International Conference on Social Impact Filmmaking is a three-day dedicated gathering in the United Kingdom for aspiring and emerging filmmakers passionate about human rights, environmental justice and social change.
Running alongside the Activists Without Borders Film Festival and Awards, the conference brings together students, filmmakers and industry experts from across the globe to explore ethical storytelling, impact strategy, funding pathways and career development in purpose-driven cinema.
NOT A BORING CONFERENCE
This isn’t a typical corporate or academic-style conference. It’s vibrant, creative and inspiring. Film can cross borders, break silence and spark action – yet many social impact filmmakers still work in isolation, without access to international peers, expert guidance or collaborative opportunities.
This conference creates a space where filmmakers connect, share ideas and learn how storytelling can drive real-world change. Participants gain practical insights into impact-driven filmmaking and build lasting international connections – while also experiencing powerful films showcased at the Activists Without Borders Film Festival.
Inspiring Spaces, Vibrant City
The 2026 Conference will be held at The Pavilion, a unique venue that blends cinematic heritage with modern screening facilities and inspiring conference spaces. Located on Oxford Road in Reading, near The Oracle shopping complex, the area buzzes with colourful murals, street art, a wide range of restaurants and lively shopping streets.
Reading, Berkshire, is a vibrant city rich in culture and history, with museums, galleries, historic landmarks, riverside walks and a dynamic arts scene. Easily accessible, Reading is just 28 miles from Heathrow Airport and only an 18-minute train journey from London, making it the perfect base to explore, connect and be inspired.
