🌍 Clarkston, Georgia, was a typical Southern town until it became a refugee settlement center in the 1990s. Suddenly its streets filled with families from Liberia, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond — bringing new languages, new foods, and kids of all backgrounds playing soccer wherever they could.
⚽ At the heart of this story is Coach Luma Mufleh, an American-educated Jordanian woman who founded a youth soccer team to unify refugee children and keep them safe. They called themselves the Fugees.
