For this workshop, Michelle will take you through the key elements to starting your patchwork quilting journey. You will need to have a good understanding and experience of how to use a sewing machine.
What the workshop will include:
· Choosing the correct fabrics
· Choosing the right batting/wadding
· Measuring and cutting accurately
· Piecing together a patchwork topper
· Sandwiching together the 3 layers
· Quilting
· Making and attaching Bias Binding
Once all of the steps are completed, you will have a lovely mini quilt/table mat to take home and be proud of.
What you will need to bring:
· Your basic sewing kit (scissors, thread, pins or clips, hand sewing needle, vanishing pen etc)
· Your own sewing machine (in good working order) or we can provide you with one
· Fresh Regular sewing machine needle
· Walking Foot for your sewing machine if you have one (optional but recommended)
All sewing machines and materials are provided. If you are wanting to take the opportunity to set up your own sewing machine at home. You can either bring your machine along with you or make sure you know the make and model, and bringing the manufacturers instruction manual will help us guide you.
All of our workshops are held in the workshop studio upstairs at From Loft to Loved, 11 The Square, Sedgefield TS21 2BN.
