Instructor - Brynna Justice
Brynna Justice is an interdisciplinary designer working in industrial design, design research, and material innovation. She is a Designer in Providence by day, and at night (and on weekends), she develops her craft in casting, jewelry, printmaking, and fiber arts.
She creates biomimicry in her work, and has developed sustainable and biodesign partnerships with industry and academic partners such as Estée Lauder, P&G, and the National Wildlife Federation. Brynna holds a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She loves orange cats, libraries, and a nice cup of coffee.
Class Description
Discover Intermediate Lost Wax Investment Casting!
Unleash your creativity with our hands-on lost wax investment casting class designed for intermediate learners in small sculpture, jewelry, and product design using molten metal.
Material Fee
The materials fee for this class is $20. This is separate from the ticket price and is to reimburse the instructor for any tools or materials used in this class. This will be paid once, directly to the instructor at the start of the first class meeting. This instructor accepts payments in cash, via check or through Paypal or Venmo.
Class Goals
What You'll Learn:
- Safety protocols for working with molten metal.
- Creative techniques in investment casting.
- Techniques for future projects to cast your own metal dice, pins, medals, jewelry, and small sculptures for future projects!
- Exposure to top-notch investment casting equipment.
Material Supplied
All materials will be provided.
If you’re interested in casting something specific, we might have an item or wax on hand within our casting item library! If you’re interested in casting another item, contact me via email to schedule a private lesson.
Students Should Bring
Wear long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes. Bring carved microcrystalline waxes if you have taken the wax carving class and would like to cast them in bronze! If you’re interested in casting something specific, we might have an item or mold on hand! Please contact me via email at least 5 days before classes start to see if we can make it happen.
Prerequisites
All students must have completed Beginner Sand Casting or have equivalent experience. To prove equivalent experience, please email the organizer.
All students must be 18 years old or older.
