Program Outline
Dive in and try scuba diving with our Program Coordinator and PADI Scuba Instructor, Alanna Canaran and Torpedo Rays Scuba Adventures to learn about what it takes to be a scuba diver and what it is like to dive in Nova Scotia and around the world.
Participants will meet at 10am at Torpedo Rays for an interactive classroom session in the morning to learn about the science behind scuba diving, what kind of aquatic biodiversity can be found in Nova Scotia, and hear from women in the scuba industry. In the afternoon, participants will head over to the pool for a scuba diving orientation and to try scuba diving in a controlled setting under the supervision of scuba professionals.
This is a unique program and under PADI regulations, all participants must have a clear medical signed off by their parents or guardians ahead of time. Please submit your completed medical form before the start of the program. <PADI medical statement.pdf> If your participant answers “yes” to any of the questions on the medial, they will need to have a doctor sign off before we can take them in the water.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and possess good swimming skills.
Participants should come prepared with multiple snacks and a lunch, water bottle, comfortable shoes, a backpack, bathing suit, towel, and warm change of clothes.
Unlike our summer programs, there is no nomination process for field trips. Registration is first come, first served, and can be completed on the program’s Eventbrite page. This program is pay-what-you-can, and your donation must be made upon registering. If you are not able to make an online donation, please contact Alanna at coordinator[at]terranautclub.com ASAP to reserve a space. If the program is full and you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please contact Alanna.
