Intentional Sequencing: Yoga Teacher Continuing Education | Los Angeles
About this Event
Intentional Sequencing
Design classes that truly prepare your students—not just connect poses.
Great yoga classes don't happen by accident—they are intentionally designed.
As yoga teachers, we often become comfortable with the familiar process of building a class: choose a theme, select a peak pose, connect the poses, and create a flow.
But what happens when we look deeper?
What does the body actually need before we ask it to do more?
Intentional Sequencing invites you to explore the deeper principles behind intelligent, purposeful class design.
Drawing from functional movement, biomechanics, and yoga methodology, this interactive workshop looks at how thoughtful sequencing can progressively prepare the body for challenging poses while creating a cohesive and meaningful experience for your students.
Anyone can arrange poses. Skilled teachers prepare bodies.
You'll leave with a repeatable framework you can use every time you build a class.
🎓 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education
This is a 3-hour Yoga Alliance Continuing Education workshop for yoga teachers.
🧘 Come Ready to Move
This is an interactive workshop—not simply a lecture. You'll explore concepts through movement, discussion, group analysis, and hands-on sequencing practice.
👥 Limited to 40 Participants
The workshop is intentionally kept small to allow for meaningful interaction and practice.
💡 Experience Level
Designed for yoga teachers who already have experience teaching yoga and want to deepen their understanding of intentional sequencing, movement preparation, and class design.
Agenda
Movement Exploration
Info: Experience preparation in your own body.
Explore mobility, activation, stability, range of motion, planes of movement, and movement awareness—and discover how preparation can change the way a pose feels.
Group Practice
Info: Take a closer look at the peak pose.
Working together, we'll analyze a challenging pose and identify what the body needs to be ready for it, including relevant joints, muscles, movement patterns, and preparatory shapes.
Sequencing Lab
Info: Build it. Test it. Refine it.
You'll apply the framework to create and refine a sequence designed to intentionally prepare students for a peak pose.
Integration & Takeaway
Info: We'll bring the pieces together and consider how to create a complete class arc—from grounding and preparation through peak, integration, cool-down, and rest.
Leave with a framework you'll use every time you build a class.
