About this Event
What to expect: Alan will be leading a group of artists on dry point printmaking which is an intaglio technique in which an image is incised onto a plate with a sharp metal needle such as an etching tool. The lines produced by the etching tool form burr's which are thrown up edges of the incised line. The burr will hold the ink creating a soft print in the process.Artists are invited to bring their own drawings 7 x 5 inch in size to use or images will be provided. Each artist will be given a perspex plate to work on.The artist would then place a drawing they have prepared underneath the plate and create an impression in the Perspex using an etching tool. Each artist would have the opportunity to create a couple of prints and then print a final print on high quality printing paper. Proofs can be taken throughout the session as the dry point develops. Collage can be added to the print if required.
About the artist: Alan is a professional artist/printmaker/tutor working out of Prospect Studios in Waterfoot, Lancashire. He works predominantly in print, but has worked with a variety of other media including drawing, metal and digital images. His work is imbued with his own unique sense of humour, offering a personal view on the contemporary world.
