Chinese Painting Workshop with Louise Garman

Discover the graceful art of Sumi-e, or traditional Chinese painting, in this hands-on workshop led by Louise Garman at Bury Art Museum on Saturday 11th October, 1:30pm–3:30pm.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of Sumi-e, from mastering individual brushstrokes to practicing exercises on rice paper. The session will cover painting techniques for birds, flowers, and landscapes, with guidance on creating final pieces such as blossom trees, bamboo sticks and leaves, or mountain scenery.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and art enthusiasts alike, offering a peaceful and inspiring environment to explore this elegant and expressive art form. All materials will be provided, and participants will leave with one or two finished paintings to take home.
