Out of the total 101 wards in Thiruvananthapuram, the BJP-led NDA won 50, the Left alliance LDF won 29, and the Congress-led UDF won 19. Independent candidates won two seats. The BJP needs the support of one of the two to form the municipal corporation board.
Apart from winning Thiruvananthapuram, the BJP has also managed to retain the Palakkad municipality it won in 2020. But in terms of numbers, they are still just insignificant and the third force overall. The Congress-led UDF alliance has achieved the most surprising result in this vote. This vote is indicative of the fact that they are moving towards seizing power by displacing the Left Front in the assembly elections after a few months.
