These relaxed monthly meet-ups are perfect for trying your hand at something new, finding inspiration for your own projects and socialising with like-minded people. You can join in the planned activities or do your own thing – just come along and get creative! Materials are provided and an artist is on hand to offer guidance should you need it. Facilitated by Jeweller and designer Lynsey Allan of Lee:Lie Jewellery.
Friday 18 October - Abstract textile art
Create and design your own textile art with simple sewing techniques inspired by our iconic costume collection. Drawing through stitch, this session will explore a form of craft to create simple yet effective artwork.
Friday 29 November - Sketching
Using the Art Gallery collections as inspiration, jeweller Lynsey Allan will show you how to use sketching to gather and formulate design ideas, focusing on pattern, mark making and tonal work.
Friday 13 December – Christmas Paper Crafts
Enjoy a festive social session while making sustainable, eye catching decorations using simple paper crafting techniques - perfect for re-using year after year.
Friday 17 January – Process Art
Explore the process of creating and experimenting through art, inspired by Aberdeen Artist Society’s exhibition Process, Process, Process. Using variety of materials, media and methods, discover how artists and designers develop their work from initial ideas and to finished pieces.
Friday 21 February – Body Adornment
Transform everyday items into wearable art using recycled materials and found objects. Let our Special Exhibition inspire you to create fun items of body adornment.
