About this Event

Join us for this installation of the Inheritors of Memory Speaker Series as we enter our third season!

Jack Goldberg shares the survival story of his grandfather, Sam and his grandmother, Esther. Growing up, Jack heard the stories of their daring escapes and near-death experiences.

Esther and Sam both grew up in Poland. Sam was conscripted into the Soviet Army, imprisoned in a POW Camp, escaped, a prisoner of Treblinka. In 1943, Sam escaped from Treblinka and found safety in a nearby forest, where he met Esther who had established a hiding place.

They survived in hiding with the help of the Stys families.

2016, Jack and his family traveled to Poland to meet the children of the Stys families, and thank them for their courage in saving his grandparents.

Jack lives in the Seattle are.
