The Wisconsin Academy in partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library welcomes Joy Harjo, acclaimed writer, performer, and 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States, for a community-focused speaking event exploring identity, ancestry, and the meaning of home.
In this special event, Harjo invites us to reflect on our own connections to the land and the ancestors who walked it before us. Her work offers a profound reflection on the strength found in storytelling and the resilience required to sustain a culture.
This event is free and open to the public, inviting all of Milwaukee to gather and consider how we inhabit our shared home. Registration is encouraged, and walk-ins welcome as space permits.
After the event, attendees are invited to get their favorite Joy Harjo book signed by the author. Boswell Book Company will be onsite selling a selection of her titles before and after the event.
