Indy Spartans Family Picnic in the Park

Join the Indy Spartans for our 2026 Indy Spartans Family Picnic in the Park on Sunday, August 9!

Singles, couples, families, MSU students and their families - all are welcome!

The picnic will be held at Fort Harrison State Park in the Sycamore Shelter. Restrooms and a playground are located right next to the picnic shelter. We'll provide picnic games/activities for all ages. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

Back by popular demand this year will be the free Spartan Swap Table! Bring MSU-themed items your family has outgrown and place them on the swap table for someone else to take home and enjoy.

If you can, we ask that everyone please bring a dish to share. Below is a breakdown, by last name, of what is needed (if you have a specialty item you want to bring please feel free to bring it).

Last name A through I: please bring a side dish (potato salad, taco salad, pasta salad, garden salad, baked beans, mac and cheese, veggie tray, etc.)
Last name J through R: please bring a dessert (fruit, fruit salad, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, pies, etc.)

Last name S through Z: please bring savory snacks (chips/salsa, chips, pretzels, crackers/dip, etc.)

Fort Harrison State Park Admission: $7 per in-state vehicle/$9 per out-of-state vehicle/$2 per entry on bicycle. Indy Spartans will cover the admission to the park for current MSU students and incoming freshman. Come early or stay late to enjoy the park’s paved and rustic trails for hiking and biking, fishing access, and more! For those interested, alcohol is permitted in the park for guests age 21 and over. We ask that you remember this is a family event and small children will be in attendance. Please monitor your beverages to ensure the safety of Spartans under age 21.
