Industry Registration 2025 Professional Development Symposium (PDS)

History:

The Professional Development Symposium (PDS) was developed in the fall of 2016 when two highly motivated student leaders from the Cal Poly Pomona SHPE Chapter brainstormed ideas for events that could develop students professionally within the respective region 2. The 2016-2017 CPP SHPE Executive Board accepted the challenge of making this idea a reality. With the assistance of hand-pick committee members and dedicated members, PDS has run successfully for 8 years.

With the assistance of professional chapters, alumni, and industry support, CPP has been able to prepare over 400 students for professional events and provide over 100 mock interviews since PDS came into existence. With your support, PDS will continue to positively support and change students lives.

Objectives:

• Topics for workshops shall include resume reviews, interview tips, and similar topics that involve professional development.

Goals:

• Ensure that PDS dives into topics that will help students further develop professionally.
• Offer multiple sources of resources for attendees that CPP and CPP-affiliated clubs offer on and off campus.
• Present a chance to attendees to develop their resume and interview skills to prepare them for SHPE National and future career fairs they may attend.
