Discover eastern part of Södermalm's fascinating industrial history by joining us on a walk arranged by Guiding Stanley Rutgersson AB. From an ancient stove bread factory to unique cultural reserves and old textile manufactures, we will explore areas where industries ruled from the end of the 17th century until the first half of the 20th century. Many of the original buildings still stand, and we'll be showing lots of pictures that bring these places to life. The walk takes you past Hammarby lake, which was lowered just under 5 m after the opening of the Danvik Canal in 1929, and where the a Hammarby port activities declined sharply in the early 1990s. We will also hear the story of a former candle factory and its founder, as well as learning about one of Stockholm's oldest shipyards and other interesting places along the way, before ending the tour at Fjällgatan.
Take the chance to discover this part of Stockholm's industrial history with us!
