About this Event
Pasadena parents and caregivers of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and children with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are invited to attend an IEP binder workshop to prepare your child for the new school year. In this training, you will learn how to organize and document your child’s school records and IEP documents, and ask questions related to the IEP process.
The Binder Workshop is hosted by the Pasadena Public Health Department’s California Innovations in Services and Partnerships for Inclusion, Resilience, and Empowerment (Cal-InSPIRE) program. Cal-InSPIRE is a program funded by the California Department of Public Health that aims to find innovative solutions to address the needs of CYSHCN and their families in Pasadena.
The workshop is led in collaboration with parent leaders Marlene Benites and Kim Jones. Both parents served in leadership roles within the Pasadena Unified School District Special Education Community Advisory Committee and have extensive experience leading IEP workshops and trainings at the Adelante Youth Alliance.
The IEP Binder Workshop event includes:
- Complementary binder materials
- Raffle prizes
- Childcare with sensory activities for ages 3-10
- Refreshments
Registration is required. Limited capacity available. Childcare will be provided upon request.
