Indigo Hour: A Jazz Set with Rob Trib III

Most weeks, Rob Trib III is on a Kansas City bandstand three nights out of seven. Tuesdays he hosts the open jam at the Phoenix. Wednesdays he leads a rhythm-and-blues night at Uptown Lounge, and Saturdays he's back there for the late set. This Friday at 5:30 he's at the Blue Room's piano for a jazz set at Indigo Hour.
He grew up on the South Side of Chicago and started playing music in church as a small child; as he tells it, his parents toured with the gospel group The Joy Ensemble. He's self-taught and plays by ear. He still plays worship services regularly, along with session dates and concerts of his own, and he writes his own songs; around all that he plays R&B, soul, and jazz. In 2025 the Kansas City People's Choice Awards named him Best Musician.
He knows this room. In April 2025 he played the Groove Room Jazz Series at Vine Street Brewing Co., and this year he's been on the Blue Room's calendar three times: Indigo Hour in February, a Saturday night in April, and the Monday jam in June, as host.
