A Celebration of Sámi Spiritual Heritage In connection with Sámi National Day that is on 6th february, you are warmly invited to an evening in circle - a celebration of the spiritual heritage of the Sámi people, rooted in tradition, presence, and living practice.
The evening begins with the serving of traditional Sámi bidos, a nourishing reindeer soup. Sharing a meal together is an important part of the gathering, offering grounding, community, and a natural transition into the inner work.
After the meal, we will share a cup of chaga in a simple ceremonial setting to settle the energy and arrive more fully into the space. Chaga (Inonotus obliquus; Báhkkečátná in Sami language) is traditionally regarded as a sacred fungus of the birch tree, used both as medicine and as a spiritual ally. Growing slowly in the northern forests, it is associated with grounding, resilience, and a deep connection to the land. Sharing chaga in this way supports presence and attentiveness, and prepares us for the teachings and practices that follows.
Following this, there will be a short talk on Sámi shamanic tradition — noaidevuohta. The talk offers insight into Sámi spirituality, worldview, and ceremonial practices, shared in a respectful, grounded, and accessible way.
The evening continues with a guided drum journey, inviting participants into contact with Sámi spirits, nature forces, and our ancestors. Through the rhythm of the drum, space is opened for inner images, remembrance, insight, and a deeper connection to both personal and collective roots.
The evening is held by Kjetil Vaajma Kvalvik, a Sámi shaman born in the northernmost part of Sápmi. He was initiated into Sámi spiritual traditions at an early age and has over 20 years of experience holding ceremonial space and guiding people back into contact with their own spirituality, inner growth, wisdom, and optimal health.
Through his work, Kjetil has supported thousands of people over the past two decades, combining Sámi shamanic tradition with deep presence, embodiment, and a grounded, respectful approach to spiritual practice.
This gathering is a celebration - not only of history, but of a living spiritual lineage.
The evening is open to you if you are of Sámi decedent and wish to reconnect with or deepen your spiritual tradition, or you are seeking your spiritual ancestry, whether Sámi or from another lineage. Or just curious about shamanic practice and Indigenous wisdom and wish to experience a deeper sense of belonging, roots, and inner connection.
No prior experience is required. The gathering is held within safe and respectful frameworks, with clear guidance and space for individual processes.
This is an invitation to remember and to celebrate what lives on in the body, in the land, and within us.
