About this Event
Come onto land once occupied by area Siouan-speaking nations. Learn the history of the land and the culture of Indigenous beading. Participants will receive instruction on simple beading techniques as they create unique beaded jewelry. Registration fees cover supplies including gemstones, tools, and other materials. Participants will leave with their creations and an understanding of the importance of beading in Indigenous culture.
This workshop is a collaboration between Indigenous Memories and the Eno River Association.
Accessibility information: This program takes place in the outdoor pavilion at the Confluence Natural Area, a nature preserve owned and operated by the Eno River Association. There are two paved, accessible parking spots in the gravel parking lot. Concrete sidewalks connect these parking spots to the pavilion and two accessible restrooms with composting toilets.
Directions: Meet at the Confluence Natural Area at 4214 Highland Farm Road in northern Hillsborough.
