Indie Video Game Fest 2026

The Indie Video Game Fest is an annual one-day event that brings together gamers, developers, and industry professionals to play, discuss, and celebrate independent video games from the DMV area. Come explore, demo, and play games from grassroots community game developers who need YOU to play their games!

As part of the event enjoy a FREE talk at 2 PM by game writer and narrative designer . She has worked on many games, such as Civilization VII, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Wolf Among Us, along with several indie projects. Emma will discuss what a memoir is and how making deeply personal games is both a powerful artistic statement and a tool for narrative designers to use narrative and mechanics to deliver a resonating story.

She will be in conversation with award-winning video essayist . He is an award-winning video essayist who examines the intersecting worlds of video games, politics, art, and storytelling. Jacob is also the author of How a Game Lives and the upcoming book You're Not Overthinking It.

As part of the event, we will host three different presentations about video games in our third-floor Wheeler Auditorium:
