This night, the lasting impact of names like Slide, Aletra & Virtue, “Duke”, Carmelita, Dawn, Marcus, “Lucky,” and Maceo Hampton will be celebrated.
The featured performers for this show include trumpet virtuoso Pharez Whitted (son of Virtue), a newly minted 2026 Indianapolis Jazz Hall of Famer; saxophonist Darius Hampton (great-nephew of Slide), a distinguished professor at Northwestern University; and vocalist Tamar Gray (daughter of Virtue), an amazing vocalist now residing in Cleveland, OH, who also carries the Hampton tradition forward through her performances and as an educator
The Indianapolis Jazz Collective features Hall-of-Fame hometown heroes—Steve Allee, Kenny Phelps, and Jonathan Wood — for the Hampton Family Reunion.
