We invite you to join us for the Independent Gyms 2026 Golf Summer Social, proudly supported by Xplor Gym and Matrix Fitness.

On Thursday 2nd July 2026, we return to The Abbey Hotel & Golf Club for a golf day with a difference. Alongside our usual socially competitive Golf Day, we’re excited to launch the industry’s first Xplor Golf Experience, designed especially for non-golfers who want all the fun, networking and atmosphere of a golf day, without needing to play 18 holes.

Both experiences will run side by side, starting and finishing at the same time, before we all come back together for prize presentations, food and the usual drinks a summer golf experience warrants!

⛳ The Golf Day

Our usual golf day returns with a format designed to keep things fun, social and inclusive for golfers of all abilities. We're kicking off with a Shotgun Start and Texas Scramble Format. It’s competitive enough to keep things interesting, but social enough that nobody feels out of their depth, perfect for the usual mixed-ability industry crowd.

🏌️ The Xplor Golf Experience (Ideal for Non-Golfers)

Not a golfer? Not a problem! The Xplor Golf Experience runs alongside the main golf day and is designed for those who want the experience without the 18 holes. This is ideal if you’ve never played golf, don’t fancy walking the course, or simply want a more relaxed way to be part of the day, without missing out on anything that happens after.

Across a 4-hour hosted experience, you’ll enjoy:

• Beginner-friendly golf lessons with professionals

• Driving range games and challenges

• A relaxed, fun introduction to golf, no experience required

• Plenty of time to chat, network and have a laugh

• The opportunity for traditional golf day beers!

Lastly, we’ll also see the return of our charity ‘Beat the Pro’ in aid of Movember, with every player going head to head with Rob Handy himself, both on the course and virtually on the range. Just one swing could see you in the running for a share of the cash pot!

Info: Get yourself primed and ready, practise on the range, putt a few balls and psyche yourself up for the challenge ahead, but be ready and waiting at your designated tee by 11:50am sharp!

Info: Take advantage of the BBQ buffet whilst the team pull together the results of the day including the winners, longest drive and nearest the pin results!
