35 Years of Independence - Ukrainian Community Picnic
📅 Saturday, August 22, 2026 · 3:00-10:00 PM
📍 Tower Playground Pavilion, Lakeshore Park, Knoxville, TN
🎟️ Free · Open to everyone · Rain or shine
On August 24, 1991, Ukraine declared its independence. Thirty-five years later, we're gathering the Saturday before to celebrate it in Knoxville - with music, food, and good company.
What's happening
🎻 Live violin performance by Ukrainian violinist Yarema Melnyk, joined by our local community
🥧 The Pie of Independence, baked by koloHUB's president from Ukrainian chef Yevgen Klopotenko's recipe
🏆 Competitions, games, and giveaways
🎨 Educational activities for kids
🎲 Board games for children and adults
The full program goes live two weeks before the event — follow this page so you don't miss it.
It's a potluck
- Bring a dish to share (Ukrainian food especially welcome) and non-alcoholic drinks. Tables and chairs are limited, so bring your own chairs and blankets if you can.
- Come and go as you please. Seven hours, no schedule to keep. Stop by for an hour or stay through the evening.
- Can't make it? You can still show up for Ukraine. koloHUB is a Knoxville nonprofit raising awareness and funds for medical and humanitarian aid - donate here: https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/4700233
Bring a friend, meet the community, and let's mark 35 years together!
