Independence Day Fun Flat Fifty

Welcome to the 2026 Independence Day Edition of the Fun Flat Fifty. This is the second of several planned rides this year. Others will be on Labor Day and a ride in October/November for Toys for Tots.
This is a self-supported ride with 1 water stop for the 31-mile route and 2 for the longer route. There is a 31-mile route and a 47-mile route, so we round it up. The 1st part of the ride is a controlled pace ride. This gives everyone a chance to get to know or catch up with people while riding. This part of the ride ends at the Congaree National Monument. Water and restrooms can be found here.
At the Congaree National Monument, we split into multiple groups by ability. There will be a really fast group for the longer route, the rest of the riders for the longer route, and a group for the 31-mile route.
This ride is about fun and getting to know other riders you may not typically get to ride with.
A couple of hard and fast suggestions. Helmets are a must. No riding in the opposite lane of traffic. Do not cross the double yellow line. Have a red rear-facing light. Ride 2 abreast. Keep the third lane open for riders either moving up the group or moving back. Be friendly.
The 50-mile route is marked with a yellow circle and a red indicator for the turn. At this writing the 30-mile is marked with a white circle and a neon pink indicator. RideWithGPS files, which can be downloaded to most cycling computers, are provided.
