There are countless business operating systems to help us "work in" the business, but there were none to help us understand how to "work on" the business and what it means to be a business owner. That is why the workshop host, Ryan Tansom, created the Independence by Design™ Ownership Framework. Independence by Design™ is the complete ownership system for owner-operators. In 2009, when Ryan joined the family business, it was doing $21 million and lost close to a million bucks. After five of the hardest years he's been through, he helped lead our company through an eight-figure exit. Since then, he has spent every waking minute learning what we could have done differently. His ten-year therapy session led him to create multiple businesses, start a podcast, travel around the US speaking on hundreds of stages to share my story (Visgage, EO, CEO Nexus, industry associations, etc.), and create an ownership framework for owner-operators (over 1,500 have experienced the material) to help them create the independence they deserve. He has also been podcasting for over eight years, with over 400 episodes featuring guests like Gino Wickman, Mike Michalowicz, Jack Stack, ITR Economics, John Warrillow, and editors from Inc Magazine (Bo Burlingham) and HBR (Tom Stewart).

Luke Maupin, joined Bremer Bank in November of 2023. He is a seasoned business development officer with 16 years of experience in the commercial banking industry and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of St Thomas. Recognized for his innovative sales tactics rooted in the art of developing trust, Luke’s strategic acumen extends to a strong reliance on banking automation and treasury management services. Before joining Bremer, he consistently prioritized building meaningful and lasting relationships through experience as a relationship manager and BDO at US Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank of the West, and American National Bank. His commitment to fostering genuine connections makes him a trusted unifier of various business lines, contributing to the success of the banking groups he has been a part of.
