Donna Sternberg & Dancers presents In The Garden, a site-specific dance performance at the Miles Playhouse in Santa Monica.

Five dancers guide audiences through the garden as movement unfolds among pathways, plants, and hidden corners of the landscape.

Inspired by plant biology, this contemporary dance performance explores the unseen lives of plants through vivid physical imagery. A flower unfolds as a bee dives inside. Bodies rise like stems from petals. Moments of dance appear unexpectedly throughout the environment, revealing connections between plant life and human experience, beauty, protection, environmental change, and decay.

In The Garden continues Donna Sternberg & Dancers’ science-based performance series, which transforms scientific ideas into compelling movement and visual storytelling.

Following the performance, audiences are invited to stay for a short talk by landscape designer Jill Jacobson-Bennett, whose work focuses on sustainable plant design.
