In conjunction with our special exhibition Happiest Place on Earth: The Disneyland Story, venture beyond the gates and uncover the chilling legacy of the Haunted Mansion! This iconic dark ride opened at Disneyland on August 9, 1969, and has been thrilling guests with its eerie illusions and ghostly residents ever since. In this Workshop, we will journey through the history of ghosts in animation, from early hand-drawn spirits in classic cartoons to the spectral effects that shaped storytelling magic. Discover how animators use solid drawing and straight-ahead animation to create hauntingly believable motion and atmospheric illusions. Then, using traditional hand-drawn animation, we will bring these ghosts back from the beyond as they happily greet the living!
