Presents ST. PATRICK SAVES THE DAY!

St. Patrick Saves the Day is a comic Irish mummer play. Written and directed by Sandra Hughes, performed by Michael Hickey as St. Patrick and Jim Alexander as The Spirit of Old Ireland. Featured are traditional Irish straw mummer masks hand-crafted by Michael. Maewyn Succat, a slave, escapes from Ireland at sixteen years old. Years later he returns as the Roman-Briton bishop who will become Saint Patrick. Patrick mistakenly identifies a resident Druid as a snake. As the two men and their two cultures collide comic mayhem ensues. Gateway's Irish mummers have performed throughout Ireland and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. They've also delighted audiences at the International Festival of Masks in Denmark. Atlanta highlights include the International Year of Beckett Festival and Atlanta Celtic Christmas. Traditional Irish singer and fiddler player Moira Nelligan joins the Gateway mummers. Moria is a receiptient of the Master Artist of Irish fiddle award from the state of Georgia.

The perfomance is suitable for all ages. There's FREE parking in the lots adjacent to the Little 5 Points Community Center where The Mask Center venus is located.
