In-Person LGBTQ+ Peer Support Group
About this Event
This is a free peer-led support group for 2SLGBTQIA+ adults who are living with symptoms of a mental health condition. A diagnosis is not required to participate.
This support group has a 30-minute arts and crafts session before each support group meeting begins which is intended as a space for cummunity building. You can come just for the arts and crafts session, just the support group, or both. Materials will be provided and bringing your own creative project is encouraged.
Schedule: 1st & 3rd Sundays
Arts & crafts: Begins at 12:30pm
Support group: 1:00-2:30pm
Location: Rose City Community Collective - 5830 NE Alameda St, Suite 205, Portland, OR 97213
What to expect: Each support group meeting is 90 minutes and follows the following format:
- Welcome & agenda
- Group guidelines & principles of support
- Check-in (1-3 minutes to share what the last week or so was like for you and your mental health - Any wins? Any challenges?)
- Group discussion*
- Check out & closing
*An "ask-it basket" will be present at each meeting for anonymous discussion topics.
This support group uses the to provide confidential, 90-minute structured group discussions. Two trained facilitators who have their own lived experience guide participants in sharing experiences, learning coping strategies, and finding a sense of community.
