In Person Horseshoe Crab Spawning Survey Training

We are gearing up for a great horseshoe crab survey season this year and we invite anyone interested in these fascinating creatures to come participate in one of the best ecological surveys out there!

This training teaches all volunteers the proper survey methods, and it also provides a background on the life history of the horseshoe crab and its management so you will be prepped and ready to go on the survey before the start of the season!

• Survey training is required to volunteer with DNERR on the three beaches we coordinate (Kitts Hummock, North Bowers, Ted Harvey).

• Participants must be at least 13 years old to participate in the survey.

• Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• Volunteers will be asked to complete a short quiz to assess their knowledge at the end of training.

• Past participants are REQUIRED to attend a training every three years. Training from 2023 is the last eligible year.

• Trainings will be offered both virtually and in person.
