In-Person Class: Baked Empanadas from Scratch (NYC)

Empanadas trace their roots back to the Iberian Peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal). The term "empanada" comes from the Spanish verb "empanar," meaning to wrap or coat in bread. In this fun and hands-on class, you’ll learn the art of making empanada dough from scratch, making two types of fillings (beef and mushrooms, spinach & cheese), and folding them decoratively into a beautiful presentation. Then we'll bake the empanadas for a healthier finish! While the emapandas are in the oven we'll switch gears and make a tasty dipping sauce to enjoy with the finished product. Guests will be involved in making their own empanadas by hand every step of the way!
No experience is required! All equipment and ingredients will be provided. Our events are casual and meant to be fun, relaxing and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting.
Please note that class will be hosted in Chef Diego's apartment. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get comfortable. Guests are welcome to BYOB. Chef Diego will provide non-alcoholic beverages and chips & salsa for you to enjoy throughout the class.

Guests are invited to BYOB wine, beer, or champagne. Chef Diego will provide non-alcoholic beverages and chips & salsa for you to enjoy throughout the class. The nature of our classes are set up so that booking parties will work together during class, sharing both ingredients and equipment. Chef Diego's apartment is conveniently located near the 86th Street 4, 5, and 6 trains and 86th Street Q train. There is a parking garage that is attached to the building with an entrance on 89th Street. Additionally, guests may park at any open street space surrounding 89th & 3rd Avenue. A small caution though that street parking is limited and can be difficult to find. Guests will have to check in with the doorman once they arrive in the building. The Doorman will let them up as soon as they are cleared. Once exiting the elevator, make a right and it is the first apartment on the left-hand side of the hall.
