Summary:
Our industry deals with construction and demolition waste daily. It is part of our project planning, and waste management plans; we even account for it for LEED reporting, but do you know what happens to it after it lands in the dumpster and is hauled away from the jobsite? Join us for a presentation from Andrea Johnson, Executive Director of the Construction and Demolition Recycling Association and former CEO of van der Linde Recycling & Container Rentals, as she educates us on what happens once this debris lands on the floor of a recycling facility.
She will cover the different recycling methodologies, what materials can be recovered and their end markets. She will provide questions you should ask recycling facilities before your project starts, especially if the project requires documentation for potential LEED points. She will shed some light on what we can do during the planning phase to impact recycling rates on our projects. If time permits she will provide tips on what to do if you need to divert material from the landfill, but there are no recycling processing facilities available.
Complimentary food and lights refreshment will be provided.
CEUs: 0.25 CEUs will be earned for both members and nonmembers for attending this event.
