About this Event
Mother's Day has come and gone but some things deserve more than one day of reverence.
The Dope Doula DMV is bringing Black women and gender expansive femmes together for an evening of film, food, and real conversation. Join the circle for a screening of In Our Mothers' Gardens, the documentary inspired by Alice Walker's landmark essay on Black women's creativity, labor, and legacy. Following the film, we'll also have a short panel and open community discussion.
Come be nourished by our grazing potluck (each attendee is asked to bring a shareable food offering - packaged fruit/veggies/snacks ONLY), the gems dropped within the film itself, and the energy that rises when Black women get together.
*This event is a soft introduction to The Love Below, a healing and community space for Black women and gender expansive femmes to come as they are, go as deep as they need to, and be held while they do it. If your soul has been looking for a space like this, consider this your invitation in.
