The festival closes with Guillermina, a powerful film based on a true story that reconstructs the memory of a Black woman in the1940s in Havana through the eyes of the 9-year-old boy she cared for. As his nanny, Guillermina was a discreet but profound presence who left an indelible mark on his childhood. The film unfolds gradually, transcending personal memory to illuminate broader themes of racism, affection, erased memory, and silence.
