We are thrilled to announce that Read It Again Bookstore will be hosting a special author event with Emily Carpenter, the bestselling author of the suspenseful and atmospheric novel, Gothictown. Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 6:30 PM, and join us for an unforgettable evening as we celebrate this captivating story.
Set in the fictional Georgia town of Juliana, Gothictown is a dark, suspense-driven tale about a family’s chilling experience after moving to a seemingly perfect small town. Already in development as a horror TV series at AMC, this is a book you won’t want to miss.
We’re also excited to share that Gothictown will be the featured read for our General Fiction Book Club discussion in October!
We can’t wait to see you there!
GOTHICTOWN is a novel about a NYC family who moves to the fictional Georgia town of Juliana (two hours outside of Atlanta) when they receive a too-good-to-be-true offer for a house following the pandemic. The family moves there, and things start going sideways. Haunted dreams, tension in the family, and a council of town elders who seem less benevolent as time passes. Eventually, they want to leave, but don't know how or even if that's possible. It's atmospheric, dark literary fiction with a suspense-driven plot in a small-town setting.
Emily Carpenter is a bestselling author of suspense novels including Burying the Honeysuckle Girls, The Weight of Lies and Gothictown. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, she graduated from Auburn University and worked in New York City as an actor, producer, screenwriter, and behind-the-scenes assistant for the CBS shows As the World Turns and Guiding Light before returning to her southern roots. She now lives with her family outside Atlanta, Georgia.
