About this Event
One of the most influential legal scholars and public intellectuals of our time, Kimberlé’s work has transformed global conversations around race, gender, power and justice. She is widely known for developing the concept of intersectionality and for helping shape critical race theory.
Drawing on themes from Kimberlé’s new memoir, Backtalker, the discussion will explore Kimberlé’s life and work, from her upbringing during the civil rights era to her role in some of the defining public debates of recent decades. The conversation will reflect on institutions, identity, public discourse and the continuing importance of speaking truth to power.
Kimberlé Crenshaw is Distinguished Professor of Law at UCLA and Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, where her work focuses on civil rights, race and the law.
