SAG-AFTRA Missouri Valley is excited to offer an amazing improv comedy workshop for St. Louis
Need a laugh? Let’s PLAY! Games, learning, AND lunch?! Deal!
Nervous? Don’t be. Trust us, you’re in the right place. This workshop was designed for SAG-AFTRA members! Perhaps you've been to or heard of The Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, or ComedySportz and thought “I’d love to do that, but…”. Maybe you've watched 'Whose Line Is It, Anyway?' and ‘Wild n' Out', and thought that looks so fun, but I am not that quick – or funny. I bet at some point you’ve thought of taking an improv class, but were anxious about the performance in front of others or doing a show. Well, there’s good news! This is a safe workshop perfect for you! You'll discover what golden nuggets along the way can be used in your daily life to become good humans, and maybe even help you gain valuable resiliency tools.
Come see what “Yes, and…” and improv can do for YOU! There's so much more than your school and college drama club. Built on the idea that you’ve been improvising your entire life, this safe, friendly, hands-up intro workshop to improv is specifically developed for adults of any experience level to strengthen interpersonal skills, bulk up your ‘uncertain tolerance’, and improve your daily lives through the power of play. Sounds fun, right?!

About the workshop
This one day 4 hour stand alone workshop will help you understand the power of “Yes, and…” while demonstrating how active listening will heighten awareness. You’ll learn that it is completely safe to make big choices and step out of your comfort zone without fear of making ‘mistakes’. We’ll also show you that ‘failing’ is impossible in improv. With new friends, you’ll see how taking big risks just adds to the fun! This workshop will demonstrate that everyone can play, is valuable, and helps to unleash your creative muscles while solidifying the fact that you don’t need to be quick, funny, or witty to be able to grow with improv.
This workshop actively builds camaraderie through interactive learning exercises and theory for everyone by utilizing comedy elements and the theater arts to actively combat life stress and adversity. Strengthen your interpersonal skills, communication, and life skills.
Together, our ensemble will:
Support diversity
Encourage collaboration
Build community
Support discovery
Develop and strengthen mindfulness
Gain additional tools in your life toolkit to help deal with life stress and adversity
Surround yourself with others in a safe environment where we can learn, play, and grow! Try something new and fun while discovering how you can get connected with your local improv community!
What To Bring:
