About this Event
Together we will examine the sector’s historical foundations through a decolonial lens, unpacking how past and present practices have shaped and, at times, perpetuated existing power structures. This session will also expand on the critical role of collecting and ethically using equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) data to advance meaningful change in not-for-profit profits.
Through interactive discussions, stories and data-informed insights, participants will deepen their understanding of how the not-for-profit sector can move from legacy systems towards more equitable and responsive approaches to policy development and governance.
In this session, you will:
- Explore the historical role of the not-for-profit sector in social justice work.
- Examine existing power structures in the not-for-profit sector.
- Learn how to ethically collect and use EDI data to inform decision making.
- Identify opportunities to advance EDI within your organization or community.
- Leave with practical tools to help you strengthen equity work in your organization.
Who should attend? Staff, leaders and volunteers of seniors-serving organizations, the broader social serving & non-profit organizations, researchers, funders, life-long learners interested in equity and systems change.
