Improv Workshop for Actors - Level Up Your Acting!
About this Event
Improv for Actors: Building Strong Characters & Authentic Scenes
Great acting isn’t about being funny—it’s about being present, connected, and fully committed to the world of the scene.
This one-day introductory workshop explores how the foundational principles of improvisation can help actors create more dynamic characters, stronger relationships, and more believable performances. Through a series of exercises and scene work, you'll learn how to make clear choices, actively listen, support your scene partners, and stay grounded in the reality of the moment.
Rather than focusing on comedy or quick wit, we'll examine how improvisation develops essential acting skills such as:
- Character creation and commitment
- Relationship development
- Emotional authenticity
- Active listening and responsiveness
- Creating and affirming the reality of a scene
- Staying present under pressure
- Making strong, playable choices
This workshop serves as a practical introduction to the tools and mindset of improvisation as they apply to acting. It's perfect for actors who are curious about improv, improvisers interested in acting, or performers looking to strengthen their scene work.
While this workshop is a complete experience on its own, it also pairs perfectly with our Improv for Actors – Level 2: Improv Skills for Scripted Scenes course, where these concepts are explored in greater depth and applied directly to monologues, scripted scenes, and performance work.
No prior improv experience is required. Actors and performers of all experience levels are welcome.
Come discover how the principles of improvisation can help you become a more confident, connected, and compelling performer.
