About this Event
Immerse yourself in the world of improvisation!
This improv course for beginners is the perfect introduction to improvised comedy and acting without a script.
Over five Sunday mornings you’ll explore improvised games and playful scenes while sharpening your listening and communication skills.
Along the way you’ll meet like-minded people in a supportive, friendly environment.
No previous acting or improv experience needed – just bring a playful spirit and your curiosity.
Why improv?
Improv isn’t just about drama or comedy (although you will laugh a lot) – it’s also a powerful tool for creativity, self-expression and growth.
This short course will help you let go of perfectionism and self-doubt to spend more time laughing, creating and connecting in the here & now.
It’s not stand-up, and there’s no need to be funny, fast or clever (those perennial myths).
The kind of improv we teach is about listening, being present, being human, supporting each other, and turning ‘mistakes’ into gold. When we play this way there’s plenty of drama and even that elusive thing: the truth in comedy.
Who is it for?
Anyone looking for a safe, fun and supportive place to explore improvised comedy and unscripted theatre.
There’s no performance at the end—this is just for the lucky people in the room!
Booking onto the course means you’re happy to commit to our group agreement – you can read it here.
