Improv 101 with Mike!
About this Event
About the Class: This is an 8 session long class that will teach the fundamentals of long form Improv Comedy. Topics covered include agreement with a scene partner, character creation, listening as a character and an actor, and exploring the worlds created in scenes. The class ends with a graduation show where the students can show their friends and family the skills learned. Students must be 18 or older for this class!
This Class is condensed and will run both Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30pm-9:30pm on the following dates: 9/9, 9/14, 9/16, 9/21, 9/23, 9/28, 9/30, and 10/5. This class has a class show with a date that is to be determine!
Reminder, the first session is Wednesday 9/9!
To qualify for the class show you must:
- Adhere to the Lancaster Improv Players' Code of Conduct.
- Attend at least six of the eight sessions (ideally all eight).
Ticket sale ends at noon on Sunday 9/6!
About the Venue: This class is not in our theater space because we will be moving during the class! We have booked an upstairs space in St John's Episcopal Church in Lancaster city at 321 W Chestnut St Lancaster! Expect an email with full instructions prior to the start of the class!
About the Teacher: Mike Andrews has been a proud performer with the Lancaster Improv Players since 2019. In addition to being a coach and member of current LIP house teams, Mike is also a member of the Lancaster Touring Company. Outside of Lancaster, Mike has completed the SAK Comedy Lab class curriculum at the Orlando, FL theatre where Wayne Brady got his start and has performed with Comedy Sportz in Philadelphia. More recently, Mike has taken classes at both Second City and UCB. As a founding member of multiple independent improv teams, Mike enjoys sharing the joy of improv comedy with new audiences and students of the craft.
Scholarships: Some scholarships are available to partially or fully cover the cost of the stated class fee. For additional information, please reach out to [email protected] with your request at least a week prior to the start date of the class.
Refund Policy: We will not refund any orders after the start of the first session.
Parking: There is street parking around the venue, which is not metered after 6pm and not metered Sundays! The parking garages are open. On the weekends the garage is $5 for the whole day!
