Introduction to Improv
Oct 17-18, 11am-5pm (two-day workshop / Saturday-Sunday)
Funhouse Lounge – 2432 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97214
This beginner workshop is for those willing to let go and have fun. If you’ve ever been to Funhouse Lounge, you know what we do. Now you can learn improvisation the Funhouse way; learn to tell stories with truth, heart and comedy that evoke laughs, sighs and real human feelings. Spontaneity, mutual support and creativity are encouraged in a safe and judgment-free space.
Class will be led by Funhouse artistic director Andy Barrett, along with several of our talented improv veterans . Our instructors have dozens of years of improv experience to share. This weekend workshop will give you a solid foundation in improvisation to build on, whether you wish to eventually perform on stage, or simply want to bring more creativity into your life. Do not miss the chance to be part of it. Don’t you deserve a little fun?
(Andy Barrett has been teaching, performing, directing and creating improv comedy and theater for over 30 years. A veteran of well over 2000 shows, he has trained under Keith Johnstone, Dan O’Connor, Barbara Scott and many others. He is a founding member of San Diego TheaterSports, San Diego Comedysportz, the Unscriptables and the Funhouse Improv Players, among other groups. He has performed for many Fortune 500 companies and at several national festivals. He is also an award-winning playwright and songwriter.)
