As a cultural and spiritual force—sacred, ancestral, and mystical—the Black spirit reflects traditions and experiences that reach across the African diaspora. In this context, hearing place is an act of registering the proof of presence, resilience, and creation in the power of sound as a vessel for Black spirit. A reading held with musical performance and associated art will engage the audience in hearing place as an act of witnessing that honors all voices. Free admission and open to the public.
