About this Event

Implementing Trauma Informed Care (TIC) in Southwest Tribal Communities

Welcome to our event focusing on bringing Trauma Informed Care to Southwest Tribal Communities! Join us for a day filled with insightful discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. Learn how to create a safe and supportive workplace environment using Trauma Informed Care techniques. This in-person training builds on the Trauma Informed Tuesdays webinar series with Dr. Mandy Davis. However, attendance at the webinar series is not a prerequisite for attending this training. Encourage your coworkers to attend! This work is more impactful when more team members can participate.

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is an approach, based on the science of trauma, aimed at ensuring environments and services are safe, responsive, and healing for both service recipients and staff. At its core, TIC is about organizational and societal culture change that centers workforce wellness and voices of those with lived experience. When practitioners better understand systems and individuals through a trauma-informed lens, they are (ideally) able to influence policies, procedures, and protocols that improve working conditions for all service providers, ultimately improving the quality of care.

Trainer: The event will feature presenter, Dr. Mandy Davis, PhD, LCSW from Trauma Informed Oregon (TIO). Dr. Davis started with TIO as a Clinical Director in 2014 and became the Director in 2018. She is widely recognized for her contributions to the knowledge base on trauma informed care and is a well-respected leader in the field.

Organizers: This in-person training event is hosted by the Albuquerque Area Southwest Tribal Epidemiology Center (AASTEC) and the Community Health Education and Resiliency Program (CHERP) of the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board.
