About this Event
A conference jointly organised by the Centre for Health Economics & Policy Innovation at Imperial College `Business School, the NIHR School of Public Health Research and the Imperial Policy Forum.
Following a successful conference in 2024 on the scope for government action on ultra-processed foods* (UPFs), Imperial is organising a new event designed to assess progress towards a science-based approach to UPF policies.
As Governments throughout the world are stepping up their efforts to curb the increasing dominance of UPFs in people’s diets, research plays a key role in supporting the development of effective and sustainable policy approaches. A call to regulate UPFs came from the UK House of Lords report discussed at last year’s Imperial event by Baroness Walmsley, then Chair of the Food, Diet and Obesity Committee. The UK Parliament is further considering the subject in a Commons inquiry on Food and Weight Management, for which the new Imperial event aims to provide useful inputs.
The Ultra-processed Food Policy Forum will bring new UPF policy experiences from across the globe to the attention of policy makers, researchers and civil society.
