Immortal Clothes: Buttons and Buttonholes with Tria Connell

Some clothes just need more buttons! In this workshop, Tria Connell will take you through creating a buttonhole and sewing on a button both by hand and on a sewing machine. We will be using scrap fabrics to practice. If you have an article of clothing that is missing a button feel free to bring it.

Participants need to know how to thread a sewing machine on their own and do a basic straight stitch.

Machines are provided but if you’d like to bring your own please do! If you are bringing yours, please make sure it has the buttonhole attachment. These usually come with the machine. Let us know you’re bringing your own sewing machine and send a picture of it to [email protected]

About Tria Connell

Tria Connell learned to sew at 13, and never looked back! With a degree in Fashion Design, Tria moved to San Francisco and started designing, patterning, and constructing costumes for drag performers, as well as other non-performing clients. She started at the Academy of Art in 2014, teaching the introductory Fashion Sewing Techniques class, and the Art Experience sewing class for high school age students.
