Imam Warith Deen Mohammed’s Legacy and Global Journey

The theme of this auspicious event is: “TO EDUCATE HUMANITY IS THE FREEDOM OF THE SOUL” This historical event will present Imam Warith Deen Mohammed’s travels throughout America and the world promoting peace, interfaith, freedom, justice and equality for all people.Also, it will illuminate Imam Mohammed’s historic landmark visits to the birthplace of America (Virginia). One landmark visit was the “Liberty Summit” held on June 25, 1988 in Williamsburg, Virginia where he was the ‘only’ Muslim signatory reaffirming the nation’s commitment to religious freedom celebrating the ‘first right’ enumerated in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. During this landmark visit he concluded his brief comments with, “Therefore, it is in the spirit of man’s historical classic and universal attention to human life and Freedom of Religion that we humbly join Williamsburg Charter Reaffirmation Ceremony. With the many races and religions of America, we cherish for all others as for ourselves Freedom of Religion, the “First Liberty.”
