About this Event

About our group:

Imago Divina is dedicated to engaging in the intersection of Christianity and art and media. Whether you're a filmmaker, writer, visual artist, or simply a lover of the arts, this is the place for you! Join us for thought-provoking discussions, screenings, exhibits, shows, and other media that explore Judeo-Christian themes. Our focus is to observe and recognize the divine in ourselves, others, and our world. “Imago Divina” means “divine image” and serves as a reminder of our identity as co-creators made in the image of God. We aim to grow as spiritual and creative beings.

From looking at religious symbolism in film to creating our own art, we welcome all those who are interested in delving deeper to connect, create, collaborate, and uplift others. In addition, we are an affirming space and invite people who identify as LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent. Lastly, we aim to serve young adults in their 20s-30s, Gen Z and Millenials, who are seeking connection with their peers. Let's come together as a community to celebrate the beauty and power of art to heal and transform the world.

Note: Our first meeting will be at the Cantor Arts Center on Saturday, February 8. Exhibits, locations, dates are subject to change because we intend to meet on a bi-weekly basis. That being said, you are free to drop in and enjoy the planned activities one time. After that, we will discuss other upcoming meetings and change this event as needed. Group meetings will be generally be held on the (lower) Peninsula, South Bay, and occassionally San Francisco for special exhibits.

What to expect:

Feb 8: We will meet outside, in the front of the Cantor Arts Center, and depending on size and weather conditions, we may move to the Cantor Cafe. For the first part, we will focus on intentional community building with introductions and fun icebreakers as a group. Then, we will walk over to the (free) exhibit "Dwelling: New Acquistions" and divide into smaller groups of 2-3. You are invited to observe, reflect, and answer the provided questions. Lastly, we will gather at the cafe and discuss our thoughts together as a group. We encourage you to bring a friend and make a friend!
