Imaginarium 2024 - Art and Design Graduating Exhibition 2024, TAFE NSW, Lismore
Opening Night: 5:30pm Fri 22nd November,

Location: Serpentine Gallery, 104 Conway St, Lismore.
This year’s graduation show will involve a blend of innovation and traditional skills in the mediums of painting, sculpture, printmaking and design. The Diploma and Advanced Diploma classes have produced compelling bodies of work. Viewers will see a variety of subject matter from imaginative surrealism to landscape paintings that reflect on Australian history and a range of ceramic goddesses that respond to geopolitical issues. One student has produced a series of remarkable kinetic sculptures that engage the crisis of species extinction in Australia. There will be industry standard graphic design from the Diploma of Design group and stunning work from the Certificate IV of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts.
The TAFE Graduation show is one of the highlights of Lismore’s cultural calendar. This exhibition will be a compelling mix of styles and content, from a motivated and diverse group of students.
The reliability of TAFE courses is still attracting strong numbers of students. TAFE provides a learning system that promotes traditional skills and personalised aesthetic values. Students study intense, highly focused courses that last for one year. Skill acquisition and the development of a disciplined approach to improvement are features of all the courses. This formula prepares graduates well for careers in the arts industry. Past students are seen regularly in the cultural landscape of Lismore, exhibiting, and running small businesses based on their creative training.
The Serpentine Gallery will again be hosting the annual TAFE Visual Arts and Design graduation show on Friday the 22nd of November. Imaginarium 2024, will showcase the creative work of over thirty students. The TAFE faculties of Visual Arts and Design have thrived since being displaced by the flood of 2022. Since then, classes have been conducted at the campus of Southern Cross University.
Come to the Serpentine and view the work of Lismore’s next wave of contemporary artists and designers on the 22nd of November. Like past exhibitions, the variety and quality of Imaginarium 2024 will make this year’s show an unmissable event. Everyone is welcome and works will be for sale.
