ILM Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management

The ILM Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management enables middle managers to develop their abilities to lead, motivate and inspire their staff. The qualifications cover strategic as well as day to day core management techniques to prepare for individual advancement. They cover some key topic areas, such as Leading Innovation and Change, which will allow managers to drive through improvements and increase results.

Designed for

This qualification is designed for practising middle managers, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge, improve performance and prepare them for senior management responsibilities.

Course Outline

Each qualification requires the learner to achieve learning credits within the new Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management requires the achievement of between 6 and 12 credits whilst the Certificate requires completion of between 13 and 36 credits with the Diploma requiring at least 37 credits. Those wishing to undertake the Award or Certificate can choose from a range of subject areas to enable them to tailor their management development programme in the best way for themselves and their organisation. Following completion of the Award, managers can go on to complete the Certificate followed by the Diploma if they wish. This flexible approach allows managers to join the programme at any time and just complete the units they need as detailed overleaf.

This is delivered by attendance at between 3 and 11 fortnightly one day workshop sessions for the Award/Certificate (depending upon subject areas chosen and the corresponding learning credit requirements) and attendance up to 27 fortnightly workshops over roughly 18 months for the Diploma. The workshops are supported by 1:1 tutorials. The assessment method is a written assignment for each Unit.
